Unposed mountain weddingsin the Blue Ridge, and anywhere you elope

I am Maya Ellison. I photograph the parts of a wedding day that actually happen. The wind taking your veil, your grandmother's hands, the long walk up to the ridge, in whatever light the mountains give us that day.

This is how the day actually looked

Documentary, never arranged

There is no shot list read out loud and nobody gets moved into place. I stay close and stay quiet, and photograph what the day gives us. Your father's face during the toast. The fog rolling over the ridge while you say your vows.

How I work on the day

I build your timeline around the light instead of around a list of photographs, so the day usually has a slow first look, a long walk at golden hour, and enough time for you to actually eat. Then I stay out of the way and photograph it.
